For Australians traveling to Bali there was excitement this week with the news that Australia has been added to the list of free Visa entry countries into Indonesia.
Depending on the origin of your passport there are three options to enter Indonesia for tourist and social purposes.
- No Visa required – free entry which is valid for a stay of up to 30 days. This is not extendable past 30 days. Please note day one starts from the day of arrival.
- Visa On Arrival (currently USD 35 which provides a 30 day visa which can be extended once for a further 30 days)
- Visa required and must be applied for and granted prior to arrival into Indonesia
It is important to note that if you intend to stay for longer than 30 days you will need to purchase a 30 day Visa On Arrival and then extend this Visa ( for a maximum of 30 more days) at the immigration island.
The free Visa stamp CANNOT be extended.
Please be aware that your day of arrival counts as one day as does your day of departure, so important to factor these into your stay to avoid being hit with an overstay fine.
You will also require at least 6 months validity in your passport along with at least one empty page. For further information please contact the Indonesian Embassy in your home country.
